Easter Bunny in Gaborone!

The Easter Bunny made a visit to some Gaborone, Botswana, kids over the weekend.
Though there was much rain (a downpour when the Bunny visited), there were lots of smiles.... and a few kids that screamed and ran the other way!!!!
Enjoy the pics!!!

Hugs from this sweet group of young ladies for the Easter Bunny.

Strikin' a pose

"I think I recognize your voice....but you sure look funny!"

Wanna know a secret????? Yours truly was the Easter Bunny. What fun!!! The things kids say....one little boy (about 4) came up to me and said, "Real Easter Bunnies can hop." I took the challenge and hopped for the little guy. Nothing left to say on that one.

You Might Be a 'Redneck' If.........

.....you have a wrecked, partially dismantled car in your driveway.

When Life Gives You Lemons.....

Or, when your lemon tree gives you lemons.....

...........you make lemonade!!!

On Saturday our youngest daughter and I picked about 75 lemons from our tree. The tree has at least another 75 lemons that are not quite ready to be picked.

Enjoy the pictures of the lemon pickin'!

We had to wear gloves when picking the lemons. The branches of the tree have thorns all over them. We're talking 1" thorns. Ouch.

"Hmmmm, I think this one is a keeper."

We laughed at the 'face' she made in this picture. The lemon didn't smell bad...maybe just a bit too 'citrus-y'?

Squeezing out the lemon juice with The Pampered Chef© Juicer. What a great tool!!

The ONE photo I don't have????? The finished product!!! We'll get one of the next batch.

MOOve Over!

These are some of the sights we saw today while out and about running errands. Every day is a new adventure!

Normally we see cows on the side of the road grazing. These cows crossed the road, and then decided to go back to the other side. They walked right in front of us. It was a funny sight. The cows that stopped traffic.

A Botswana Defence Force vehicle. (No, I didn't misspell 'Defence'. Here, that's the way it is spelled.) This isn't a common sight around town! This is called an ASV (Armored Support Vehicle). The President of Malawi was in Gaborone today. I think these soldiers were headed back to base, or to set up at another location for security.

What do I want you to see here, you may be wondering? The sidewalk. All over Gabs the sidewalks are (usually) bricked - especially those along the roadside. Labor intensive work indeed. However, when underground repairs are needed to water/sewage lines and such, the workers just pull up the bricks (and reuse them) rather than busting up and repaving. Clever.

Until next time!

Ladybugs - for Breakfast????

On Saturday mornings we sometimes get treated to "breakfast in bed" by one of our daughters. (It's more like a mid-morning snack, since I like to sleep in late on Saturdays.) Our youngest put together this treat -- "ladybugs" with flower-shaped toast!!!

Very tasty!!!

A close-up of the little critters. (Apples cut in half, chocolate chips (attached with peanut butter) and either slivered grapes or apples for antennae.) Best ladybug I've ever had!
